Have you been able to visit any of these properties in person or just looking online? One thing to keep in mind is how narrow some of the homes in Baltimore City are. Some pictures you find online can be a little misleading when you actually go and look at the house.

I don't think it is unreasonable that you could find something in your price range and also in the neighborhoods you are looking at. Some short sales are selling below $200,000 but that can be an exhausting process.

Also consider Beverly Hills or if you can go further west Ten Hills or Hunting Ridge.. Nice large homes in those two communities.

I love the homes in NE Baltimore particuliarly Lauraville and Hamilton. But as someone said some sections of the NE future are up in the air.. Frankford/Gardenville parts of Overlea... They also have wonderful housing stock.. but are too close to some marginal garden apartment complexes. Some blocks are having their single family homes carved up into illegal boarding houses or apartments. This is what happened in Forest Park, Windsor Hills, Garwyn Oaks in NW Baltimore that had a similiar housing stock and destroyed these communities. They are only now rebounding but on a block to block basis....

Smile Thanks Woodlands!

I will check out those spots... I am always up for new ideas. We cant afford Roland Park or Guilford or Homeland or even true Federal Hill yet - but we would like to live in a more adult neighborhood then where we are at. Dont get me wrong- plenty of good things about South Baltimore but for me, as a I am getting older, the good are not outweighing the bad. Seems like each year there are more and more 22 year olds and more bar traffic. Like I said- time and place for everything- but my time here is expiring ...
