In about 1~2 months, I am going to move from Baltimore, MD to study at Ithaca, NY. I am also considering to have my near-sightness corrected by LASIK or similar surgeries such as PRK. I know Baltimore has Wilmer Eye Institute affiliated with Johns Hopkins hospital, but I don't know how good it and other eye-care clinics near Baltimore and Ithaca are. So I was wondering if it is worth to have the eye surgery in Wilmer eye institute at Baltimore? or do you have some other recommendations?

What is the reasonable range of surgery’s price?

I currently don't have insurance, and probably will not until I go to Ithaca. Will that be a problem, considering the risk of the surgeries?

BTW: the lastest measurements of my eyes are :
SPH CyL AXIS
-3.00 -0.50 180 Right Eye
-3.25 -0.75 015 Left Eye

Thanks!

Most, if not all, places offer free consultations. So go set a few up appts, talk to the doctors and then make a decision based on your comfort level. There are different procedures (and deals) so the costs will vary. Talking to them will get you the personalized answers you need.

Just to throw in a personal anecdote - I got my eyes done at TLC about 12 years ago. Zero issues. Still at 20/20 (was at 20/15 after correction). I am noticing the onset of presbyopia. Which I hear may come sooner with laser correction (I'm in my early 40's). No need for reading glasses yet, but definitely have a harder time reading small print without bright lights.

Grow big.
Wear glasses if you need 'em.

TLC is a larger provider of Lasik surgeries. I believe they are national..but at the very least, one of the biggest in the DC metro area.
