1. I am considering to wear braces or invisalign or whatever to correct my minor not-well-aligned teeth. Yes, I am an adult already. So I was wondering if there are some orthodontists recommended?

For example, I am living on the north side of Hopkins Homewood campus. The closest orthodontist I found is Robert Williams whose office is in Hopkins House. One year ago, his prices were $3750 for regular braces and $4200 for Invisalign and $350 for records (X rays, etc), and today I called his office to learn the prices have most likely gone up now. I will perhaps need to see them in order to find out more. Does someone have some comments on Dr Williams's prices and services? His website is http://www.personalizedortho.com/. What other orthodontists would you recommend?

2. I also would like to have my teeth cleaned (and checked up).

For example, My dentist was Michael Murphy (his website is http://www.baltimoreuptowndentist.com/) two years ago when my dental insurance covered all the costs of cleaning and checkup. I now don't have any dental insurance, and their prices now are $75 for cleaning and $76 for checkup. I wonder if their prices are relatively high, considering their office location (in Halstead apartment), and if there are other dentists who are competitive in both services and prices?

Thanks!

That's highway robbery for Invisalign. Not that one should buy their dental services from sites like Groupon, but there are constantly deals in baltimore for Invisalign and for dental services.

Dental services can always be negotiated as well; it's the first thing people skip when they're being pinched, and with inflation taking hold/cost of dental coverage going up for less coverage, it's hurting dentists most.

I'm not making a recommendation on dentists, but I will tell you I looked into Invisalign and the full treatment prices I was quoted for paying cash (my dental from work sucks) were in the $2400-$2900 for the full treatment. The occasional Invisalign groupon I've received was in this price as well. And, while my teeth aren't busted, the dentists who I went to in order to get the service are reputable and experienced and not giving me a price for a low rent/partial treatment.

How was the full treatment prices you was quoted $2400-$2900 for the full treatment so low?

I don't have a magic bullet; I have a honest dentist and started with the orthodontist he recommended. I then asked around for recommendations, and had consultations with 2 other orthodontists, and the prices were in line.

At least for me, paying for the full treatment up front in cash helped negotiate a better price.

I've been getting a lot of dental work done at the University of Maryland Dental School in Baltimore.
I have gotten the following types of work done:

Root Canals, crown lengthenings, core buildups, dental crown fabrications (metal and enamel), deep cleanings, and extractions.

I have still some more work to get done, including a crown lengthening, two more dental crown fabrications, and the fabrication of a partial denture.

The work has been done by a third year dental student, a fourth year dental student, and postgraduate dental resident specialists in endodontics and periodontics.

I started getting the work done in the fall 2011, so it takes quite some time to get all of this kind of work done. But if you or someone else has any questions concerning fees, quality of work, etc, I would be happy to try to answer them.

I had a pretty good experience with Dr. Eric Cohen in Federal Hill, and I'm someone who HATES going to the dentist. I'm not sure about his prices since insurance covered it for me, but I seem to recall being told that he's pretty reasonable.
