51-year-old woman found dead in her home

I guess you don't necessarily have to be in one of "those bad" neighborhoods, or be black, to get popped.

This is where Canton, Patterson Park, and Highlandtown converge - in a house overlooking Patterson Park. Tell me again how safe Baltimore's "good" neighborhoods are.

I clicked onto that article and I clicked over to this one:

Fed Hill sports bar robbed at gunpoint

I am surprised that would happen in Federal Hill on a Sunday Morning.

I wonder how long it will be before the bully trolls that dominate this board will call me a troll for posting that.

This is obviously horrible.. Seems like crime in Canton/Patterson Park ebbs and flows depending on the time of year and luck of the draw. The challenge in these rowhouse districts is that they connect with some problem areas to the north and north east.. Some of these criminals likely live on the same street as their victims just several blocks north. Its often hard to have a crime watch in a rowhouse district because its part of the City's Grid and transportation network people are always moving around, driving, walking to and from places in and around these areas. Other ares like Lauraville, Radnor Winston with its dead end streets and single family homes are much easier to monitor because they are not "cut through" areas where people have a reason to traverse your neighborhood at all times of the day and night. The din of the City often mask calls for help or other conflicts or they are written off by those who hear them.

I recall walking to a neighborhood bar in Canton one evening. I had to park almost 8 blocks away. When I left.. around 12am.. I was amazed at how desolate the residential streets there become in the areas north of Canton Square. You can literally not see a soul yet you hear voices coming from alleys(likely rooftop decks), music from cars/homes, yet no one is around.. It can be quite an unnerving experience if you are more used to the more populated areas.. You can go around one corner and the street life vanishes as you enter the residential areas... This combined with the fact that some of thes streets are directly connected to not so nice parts of town.. and some of the criminals in those not so nice parts of town know when LAST CALL is at the Canton and Fells Point Bars make the attraction of coming across a drunk yuppie attractive for those with criminal intent....

The break in follows that same logic that you can use an alley or a rooftop to drop into someones home and unfortunately who gets the drop on who first may be a life or death decision.. Clearly why this you guys would murder someone as opposed to simply scampering out where they came may be a mystery....

What was the reason behind your describing her as "white?!" Why not just say it was an elderly woman?

I also would ask the OP where does it say she was killed? Neighbors stated that they didn't hear anything.....so until more information is available, I wouldn't go as far to claim she was murdered.

"One would think if it was a burglary in the middle of the night or even the early morning hours, that would trigger some noise. Especially with it being somebody ended up dying. There would be an altercation that would make sound, triggering dogs to bark," the neighbor told ABC2.

She could have tripped in her home and died.

Where does it say there was a burglary? Couldn't this be someone who knew her? Or she could have fallen down the stairs. Am I missing something in the article?

Hey Infinite, small point in the scheme of things, but 51 isn't elderly!

Definitely awful.

A lot of unknowns for this to happen in this area. Was the house broken into? Anything stolen? Really no info was given.
