Well, it's only been a week. Plus there's still military in the harbor. And a curfew. So yes, it's been impacted. I think that's kind of a given.

What we don't know is how long it will last.

When the hype dies down will people come back? My guess is as the summer progresses without incident things will gradually get back to normal. And I think by the time the Ravens start up again sports fans will be itching to go to those games.

It also depends on how many conventions cancel in the coming weeks.

The rest of the spring is probably shot though.

We've got laws to deal with the few bad cops we get from time to time. We can fix that. But what we can't fix is the destruction of a city that nobody wants to go to anymore. Nobody cares about black people getting shot, or whatever. It happens in Chicago (or Baltimore) every single day - black people get killed. I don't see any protests or marching or looting for that. Seems hypocritical if you ask me. "Black Lives Matter" only when the police (presumably) have some role in the course of events. "Black Lives Don't Matter" if the police can't be connected to the death.

These rioters should have been dealt with and not allowed to destroy property and businesses. But police were told to stand down. Now the city has no tourism left. Looks like they screwed themselves by letting the animals run free. Baltimore will sink. Congratulations, mayor.
This is false and dangerous logic that assumes that we should not hold law enforcement up to a higher standard than the citizens they police.

It's also sad that you're going to let the actions of a few individuals characterize an entire city.

Cancelled our trip in June.

With the wacko racist mayor and that attorney, I have no confidence that I would not be hauled in for being too white.

There are other, better places to go, and I can see the Orioles in another, safe venue.

I doubt I am alone!

If anything Mayor SRB has been accused of disproportionately catering toward your cohort than anything. [I'm not saying I agree one or another, but that is the perception.]

You may be a bit off base at least regarding her.

I do hope you change your mind though, June is a while away and things have already settled down plenty already.

Are you saying you will never visit the inner harbor because of safety concerns, or based on principle behind the actions of the rioters? I also thought the rioting was horrible, stupid, and will hurt the city in the long run (I'm not against the peaceful protesting). The harbor is really nice though, and I would recommend you go if you've never been, despite the terrible actions of some in the city.

No, its not funny because she is racist. You can bet that if those teenagers throwing objects at the police outside Mondawmin were white, she would have given the order to shoot, not stand by and do nothing. So yes, she is racist.

To the racist pig in city hall, black lives matter, white lives and property do not matter.

Some cities have tour buses going through horrible neighborhoods. Sort of like a drive through safari for urban areas. Most who take such tours are from other countries. Maybe they'll add Baltimore to their tour.

IMO he is a useful tool for those whose stated goal is to "fundamentally change the USA". He won't be arrested and he will get all the media coverage he craves.
