Has anybody here lived in Otterbein? How was your experience? Is it worth the price tag?

I lived in Otterbein over 20 years ago, so doubt my experience would be relevant for today. I liked the ability to walk to many places- restaurants, harbor,as well as, in my case then, dentist, doctor, etc.

I always felt that a sense of vigilance regarding surroundings- who was walking on the street. groups of people congregated on a corner, etc. - was needed, and one could never blithely stroll the streets without an awareness of such things. I had my car broken into twice, but this was the only incident that occurred during the five years I lived there.

My feeling is that it may be a good place to live if living there is time limited-i.e.- you know you'll only be there for 3-4 years. I don't see it as a place where you feel you can spend twenty+ years. It is a transient area, and a changing landscape . For me,I consider it a good experience, and I don't regret doing it. I'd never live there again without a garage, however.

I see it as a place for the twenty and thirty somethings who have some money and expendable income, or for the wealthy retired who can enjoy the positive aspects of the neighborhood, but can afford to insulate themselves from some of the more serious problems.
