Jack Luskin, co-founder of Luskin's appliance and electronics chain, dies - Baltimore Sun

As usual, the comments are just as good as the article.

In the late 1960s, Luskin's sponsored a political talk show on WCBM featuring Gene Burns an obviously erudite individual who was apparently an authority on Israeli-Palestinian relations. Jack Luskin often took exceptions to Burns' viewpoints and would call in to argue, some of those arguments were rather heated, and one was downright vicious with neither man backing off. I can still recall this episode on a Fri. night.

The following Monday, Burns was gone. Wonder what happened to him since then.

I still use the Technics SL-D1 turntable that I bought at the Luskin's on Ritchie Hwy. in 1981.

I bought my first 15" Color TV, with a remote, at Luskin's on Chillum Rd in Hyattsville, MD in the early 80's when I was a college student. I put the TV on 'layaway' during the summer and had it paid for to take back to college. It was my first big purchase. It looks like a microwave, and that TV still works!!

We lived on Oak Road, and I went to Oakley Elementary. I even went to kindergarten at Arnolia Church.
We would go to Luskins to watch the Fireworks.
I can remember Luskins selling a turntable that worked while hanging from the wall. I think it may have been a Vacuum Plater Luxman. Does not explain the tonearm functioning properly. I have a PD 272.
I had an old Chevette in 1987 and like morons we were smoking grass on the parking lot of Luskins. Cop caught us, and searched my car for 10 minutes. I had it full of junk. To funny. He made me throw the bowl, and the film camera container of grass over onto the hill. Amazingly the next morning I went up there and found the film camera container, but never could find the bowl.

And you still managed to grow to adulthood. Right?

This is a good example of how cops should treat most teens
rather than the current practices of running them in and starting a criminal file.

(I once had a County cop make me up-end my baggie and shake it all into a storm drain)
