Has anyone prepaid their 2018 property taxes?

Why bother? The IRS yesterday said that doing so prior to being billed for them won't get you anything. The 2018 billing comes out July 1.

So the assessment I have on my rental property is through June 2018, does that count? I guess just half.

So why did the Baltimore City say you can pay early? I am asking cause I can't get in touch with my accountant and want others to help me make sense of this.

They likely said it before the IRS clarification yesterday. You already paid the 2017 taxes (FY 2018) probably when they were billed last July.

Maybe will help you.

No bill? No deduction.

I won't receive mine until July

I heard that rental property deductions will not be affected by the new tax law. The new property tax cap is not for investment property. Have you heard anything similar? Can anyone clarify?

I don't know for sure but it would make sense that it not be under a cap since interest charges and taxes are business expenses.
