Did anyone else have a Mother who said she had to go downtown on St. Patricks day to get her butt painted green? :-) No, seriously!

Default When Baltimore was

That was when Baltimore was a town. Also to mention the Baltimore Bays, the Tower Bldg, Bud Paulino's Crab &Beer Garden, the Port Welcome, the old Pennington Ave drawbridge, Sam Smith Park[corner of Pratt &Light St], traffic police[white hats] on downtown corners, red fire alarm boxes on streets, Lake Clifton when it was a lake and then when they built a high school, how they implemented a desegregation plan and some white students form the city's northeast were bused there. Finally the school safety day at Memorial Stadium esculator accident incident. Another thing worth mentioning when you could park without any problem in Fells point and Canton. Its a shame they tore all the homes down for the defunct east-west exprwy.

Thanks for the memories! My dad was on Pinbusters - I have his certificate signed by Bailey Goss framed and hanging in the basement. And my mom always knew the count and the amount on Dialing for Dollars!

Default Remember? (I don't)

Remember the Rek, on Howard Street at Monument (I think). It had more than one hundred bowling lanes under one roof, presumably making it the grandest bowling venue in all the how many (?) states at the time. There was a restaurant with dancing under the stars on the roof top. . . .

I know b4 the civic center there was a sports arena on Pennslyvania ave, might of been called the colliseum of met[not sure of name]. Pennslyvania Av was swamped with jazz clubs. Unfornately urban renewal saw most of it demolished. Patterson duckpin bowling alley is still going strong. I know people who lived in Canton and lost their homes because of eminent domain. Ill planned East-West eprwy. Still to this day I remember there were 3 old stone front homes on Elliott St. National Lumber was also relocated.
