I'm moving to Baltimore soon to start working at the U. Maryland Medical Center complex. I'm 30 yo, white, gay male. While my lifestyle is fairly sedate, I'd like to have some access to the gay community. Where do most young, gay professionals live in the Baltimore Area? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Default Gays are everywhere

The short answer is everywhere. Depending on their income and domestic situation, gays live in Federal Hill or along the waterfront or in historic neighborhoods like Bolton Hill, Union Square, Reservoir Hill and Butchers Hill.
All those require a hefty amount of money. So gays live in Station North and in such northeast neighborhoods as Beverly Hill as well. And in Baltimore county suburbs.
Read the local gay newspapers for real estate ads and you'll get an idea.

We have quite a few in Pigtown...to use a stupid cliche -- "some of my best customers are gay." Sorry, I couldn't resist.

The question should be "Where do gay people NOT live?" Unless your neighbors actually dislike you as a person, the issue won't likely come up anywhere. Find a neighborhood you like and you'll be welcome. However, as said before, Mt. Vernon has the biggest draw because of the current concentration of gays, bars, clubs, resturants, gay-affirming churches, culture (the Lyric, Walters Art gallery, Meyerhoff), GLCCB (community center), ease of access via Penn Station to DC/Philly/NYC, convenience to downtown. Basically, if you live in Mt. Vernon, your friends will come to you sooner or later, for one reason or another.

As Woody Allen once said, if you go both ways your chances for a date double.

Lots of gays live in Mayfield. I know a guy who's selling a house on a street that's home to several gay/lesbian couples. I can give you more info if you like!
