So I grew up in Howard County, but have been fortunate enough to spend the last 2 years in Boulder, CO. I'm getting very tired of the fanatic liberals and rich college kids, though, I am seriously considering transferring with my job (Northrop Grumman) and getting a sweet rowhouse in Canton or Locust Point or something. Especially since Boulder is way more expensive than Baltimore. I make about 100k per year, but that doesn't get too much here unless I want to live where it looks like Kansas.

Before CO, I spent 2 years in DC, though, and ended up hating it. Is Baltimore really more laid back, more pub vs. club? I just don't want to give up what I have if it's so similar to DC craziness. Besides, I don't have to lock my doors here. I just miss the water, friends, family, and green grass.

Thanks!

Some friends of mine live in Locust Point and they seem to really like it.
One of them got mugged walking home around the Hopkins area though.
&it's just so industrial looking.

I just moved to the city from HoCo, too.

&if you haven't been here for awhile....it might be a little more expensive than you think.

Thanks for the reply. I live in Boulder now, so believe it or not, Baltimore is cheap in comparison. I've made the decision. I'll miss the mountains, but they can't replace the people. And Baltimore has the coolest.

Boulder, CO - "Where everyone's different, in the same way"

Yes, you are crazy.

People are generally the same everywhere. I have never found the stereotypes of people being "nicer" or "meaner" in a certain area to be true.

And don't tell me you're moving to Baltimore to escape the liberals? LOL :P

Thanks for your reply, but I am a liberal. I used to think people were the same everywhere. Then I moved to Boulder. Now I want to vote republican out of spite. And I can't get out of town fast enough.

Bawlmore is a rough town, being a Howie County native I'm sure you know this.
I have always loved Baltimore even with it's bruises. If you know the area and learn the street you will be fine.
Yep, it is way more Pub than Club. The yuppies stay in Montgomery Cty and Georgetown.

Bawl is Essex, Dundalk, Harbor, Fells, and even the mean streets of North Avenue and Monument.

The only thing bad on the $$$ side to Bawl is taxes. Maryland is a tax Helllll.
I always laugh when you see the signs, "Maryland, The Free State" sorry, ain't nothing free in Maryland

you are not crazy. I live in Denver for 7 years. I'm gonna move to Baltimore soon for a new job. I'll be missing Rocky mountain & deep snow for sure.

I guess I'm biased against Baltimore... I lived there for a short while. I was only there for five months when my home was broken into and my mother had a knife held to her throat. And then soon after my neighbor was assaulted in front of his house. This was all in Arcadia, a supposedly decent neighborhood.

I've been told these things happen everywhere, which is true. But they are far more frequent in Baltimore than 99% of other places. I have lived in New York for 13 years and Montana for 6 and never encountered any such problems in either of those places. Baltimore is far and away the worst place I have ever lived in. Sorry, but it's true.'

To me, moving into this city is indeed a life-or-death decision. Stay in the suburbs at least.
