Since I relocated to Baltimore City and joined this forum.. I have become interigued by the history and the plight of some of the City's neighborhoods. I spent a lazy sunday morning cruising around Edmonson Village..first around the shopping center..then some of the maze of side streets south of the plaza. Having just completed Edward's Orser 'Block Busting in Baltimore.. Edmonson Village Story" I was curious to find out more about the community. Overall...the community still seems intact.. though there are certain blocks that have fared better than others. The develoment of the Uplands and its proposed mixed income housing and retail will certainly be a boost as will the proposed Red Line. It is sad that some many of Baltimore's neighborhoods have had a roller coaster ride of a time during their existence.. Given its proximity to the Gwynn Falls, I-95 and 695.. it is very accessible to downtown bmore as well as of the DC commute (via West Baltimore or Halethorpe Stations)..There are some nice views of downtown from several vantage points as well...I hope that Edmonson Village's better days are in front of it given the considerable investment that has been slated to take place there over the next decade.
