“This great transformation is a commitment to sustainability and revitalization on a big scale –an entire block! This overall project is worth supporting as a good demonstration project for Baltimore. It could help address the BRAC influx of people.”

Decker Walk in Patterson Park received two national awards.

Cool... there are some nice rehabs in PP. I hope the area continues to thrive... The Park itself is always alive with activities and festivals which makes the area even more appealing

Default Decker Walk

It's great to see the Decker Walk Envirowhomes getting recognition. I share the alley behind them and they are truly special. That block was once just falling-down shells, and here we have a true community. Our block is working on alley-gating, and the residents are tightly-knit. There are a few homes on the block still available, at a much reduced price, if anyone is home-shopping.

Also, two of the Decker Walk homes will be on the Spring Home Tour on May 2nd. Cheapest voyeurism in town... $5 gets you into ten homes!

PPNA is having a potluck community celebration on Monday, May 11th at 6:30 pm in the basement of St. Elizabeth's. I know there are a few Patterson Park residents on this board. Hope to see you there!

Is it just me or has the neighborhood gotten better even with the recession?

Default yep

I think it has. We are concentrating our financial efforts locally, i.e. when we go out to eat, it's at Three..., where we run into our friends that all live nearby. And though houses are selling slow, people are still moving in.

I'd venture to say those who think PP is such a rough neighborhood haven't spent any significant amount of time nor even walked around in 10-20 years. All of my family have lived in the greater Baltimore City area all their lives, and were skeptical when I told them where I was moving. They hadn't been in the area for 15+ years, came down for a cookout ONCE, and now have a completely turned around view of Patterson Park, thanks to the amazing progress the neighborhood has made!

I agree. The change has been unreal in the past years. I was also skeptical of the area 15 years ago and now I happily reside here.

I was born and raised in that area. I practically lived in Patterson Park from grades 5 thru 8. It was a great childhood. I left in 1966 and rarely get back there anymore. I still enjoy reading/viewing about all things Baltimore.
