For years teenage pregnancy in Baltimore has been exceedingly high. Just a few years ago Baltimore had three time the national average teen pregnancy rate. This is very costly for the state and the city and in my opinion a major contributor to crime. I just read an article from the Sun indicating that teenage preg nancy rates have decrease by a third the past few years. That gives me some hope for Baltimore but we are unlikely to see the results for many years.

Recall when the talk show guys called us "The city that breeds," replacing the "reads" with "breeds" in the slogan.

These among others are some of the typical negative aspects of Baltimore. High drug use, single female headed households, unemployment and teenage pregnancy.

Single male headed households would be no problem though, right?

Have we seen any demographic breakdown as to which group(s) accounts for the teenage pregnancy rate? Or could any change in Baltimore's population over the past few years have accounted for the lower percentage?

It is hard to say what causes what, but the increased high school graduation rate and decreased teen birth rate are very likely to be related. There is also a steep drop in the juvenile arrest rate - down more than 60% over ten years ago. While the city's current crop of teenagers still has a lot of problems, it is improved substantially over teenagers from a decade ago. Unfortunately, even if the city stopped producing troubled young adults altogether (which, of course, isn't going to happen,) previous generations of troubled citizens will be causing plenty of problems for a long time to come.

Children in a single female headed household tend to have worse outcomes than the other (what you mentioned).

I hope I don't have to sit down and explain this to you.

Correct. And if they were to replace the majority of the female k-12 teachers in the Baltimore City public schools with male teachers, and started enforcing stricter discipline and teaching the kids respect for themselves and fellow humans instead of how to feel good, the crime rate in the city would decrease.

Many people don't want to talk about this. But when Abortion was legalized (Roe v.s. Wade) crime decreased greatly.

They should bring back corporal punishment in schools as well. Nowadays the kids don't give a F--- in school, they mouth off and everything.
