You can find nice places in Hampden for rent in newly renovated buildings in or close to your price range. Check out Hampden Hall and Preller Properties, there are also full row homes for rent in the $1500-2000 range. Hampden is a nice area, I love living here, and it is pretty quiet. Parking isn't bad, but it ranges depending on the street you are on. Also very walkable to shopping and great places to eat.

Default Second Roland Park area

I'd also vote for an apt somewhere between Roland Park and JHU ~ 7 miles to downtown/Inner Harbor, easily drivable/bikable if you see fit. Between RP and JHU you have Stony Run, a creek with running/walking trails on either side, and near RP, within walking distance, you have the lovely Enoch Pratt Free Library/Eddies supermarket/coffee shops etc., with a very chill vibe. Safe also. Closer in, near JHU you have Charles Village which has a bit more density as well as bookshops/restaurants etc. Mt. Vernon might also fit some of your needs but not as much as green space nearby. I think you could also consider Canton/Fells Point - very close (walking distance-ish) to the Inner Harbor, with lots of amenities nearby. What it lacks in true green space it makes up for in easy access to the walking/running path along the edge of the Inner Harbor which is just great. Not sure about what exists in that price range though.
