We came to visit "Vacationland" last year and totally loved it there! We are definitely moving to Maine in a few months and since we are bakers we are playing with the thought of starting a bread bakery. Maybe around Bangor. According to what the taste of Mainers is like, would you appreciate an artisan German/French bakery in Bangor? Thanks for any help on that subject.

Skowhegan has a mill that only handles Maine grains. They process a wide assortment of different grains too.

I think it could be appreciated, but it sounds a little risky to me. There are a few very well established bakeries in town, including the popular friar's bakehouse. And it seems like anti-carb diets are all the rage now. I think if you are passionate about it and do it well, you can make it work, because although Bangor is small, it is big enough. But I would do your research, be great at what you do, and have a good location, because it doesn't seem to me to be something that has a high probability of success. Others may disagree, and I welcome their thoughts. More than anything, I wish you best of luck with your move. Bangor is a great small city.
