Hello.

I would like to know how would you classify the type of woods in Waldo County area, more specifically between Belfast and Swanville.

How would you describe the image in the link, woods with very think trees like that? Shrubby comes to mind, but I don't quite think that's right...

I don't think those are mature trees, they are young trees, and mostly birch with what I think are a few fir trees mixed in. What you find really varies with location, even locally. I think birch are one of the first tree species to grow in after a clear-cut, so that area was probably cleared not that long ago and this is what has grown in since then, would be my guess.
