Simple question, at this point are the Phillies the best team in Baseball. The three headed monster of Halliday, Hamels, and Oswalt coupled with the line-up?

Not to mention now the best record in baseball after limping through their injuries at nearly .500 in mid July - They are something like 45 and 13 since, won 11 straight and are 19 and 3 in Septemeber.

I am a homer, but why not?

The Phillies are super hot as of now. We have 3 aces who are all pitching terrifically, Brad Lidge has been back in his form lately, and our line-up is a beast. Phillies are a well-rounded team with great pitching and great hitting. Not to mention, the team has playoff experience too and knows how to get it done

They are almost definitely the hottest, though the Twins have been very hot too.

Objectively-speaking, the Phillies appear to be clear favorites in the National League playoffs, while the Twins, Rays, and Yankees are all comparable in the American League. With those three AL teams (and really the playoffs in general), it will probably come down to which team gets the best starting pitching.

I voted no, to counteract the jinx you just placed on the team by starting this thread.

No, they become the best once they beat the defending champions .

And you think the Yankees are better today. They have no match for their 3 starters this year. Lee can't pitch everyday; we fixed that. The Yanks better just worry about winning the NL East at this point

I'd say the Yanks would have to worry about switching leagues first.

This reminded me of you guys

Yes, folks, the Phillies are red hot, but let's be honest here: they have capitalized on one of the most fortuitous scheduling runs possible in September. The Phillies beat Jonathan Niese of the Mets and Tommy Hanson of the Braves for the first and latest wins in a 10-game winning streak. In between, they faced eight starting pitchers with nine combined wins the entire season: Andrew Miller, Adalberto Mendez, Jorge Sosa, Jason Marquis, Jordan Zimmermann, Yunesky Maya, Brandon Beachy and Mike Minor. Not exactly the 1970 Orioles.
They played the Marlins without Josh Johnson (hurt), the Nationals without Stephen Strasburg (hurt) and the Braves without Jair Jurrjens (hurt). Give Philadelphia credit for taking advantage of the opening.

With that said they are going to be the heavy favorites in the NL.
