Fat chance.
He was being sarcastic; if you knew anything about baseball you know what he was talking about.

1.7 WAR is terrible for so much money. Mike Trout is 6 times as valuable, Cano is 4, and Buster Posey is 3

I find arcane sabermatrics much less persuasive than coming through even occasionally when the chips are down. Especially when it really counts. Most especially when you're getting paid enough money for each AB to feed a hundred families in the inner city of Detroit...

these threads remind me of the dweebs striking out with their tiny fists of rage over having been picked after even all the girls were chosen down at the sandlot as kids.

Judge Judy earns $45M per year...so what?

Try reminding yourself of reality. Like how many times you got hung up off third and bellyflopped six feet short of the bag. When you were getting paid beaucoup bucks to play ball like a man.

Jeez, people. We all know reality bites. But hey, THERE IT IS.

Plus the fat wuss cost Jim Leyland his job...

The comparison between Fielder's salary and the average Michigan teacher is a red herring and is irrelevant to the conversation.

Many years ago when Fielder was in A ball, I was seated next to a former Detroit Tiger GM who said that Fielder was built like his father and would not make it in baseball past age 35 due to his weight.

The blame should be placed on the current Tiger GM who signed Fielder to a long-term contract.

And what was his post season record with the bat 2 for 24?

Fielder needs to replay that running scenario on every flat screen tv in his house 24/7 as a reminder to spend more time in the gym and less time in the refrigerator from now to Opening Day 2014!

Welcome to the world of big ticket free agency. Most teams end up with buyer's remorse, after they pay someone for past performance and do not see the dividends.

That said, Fielder's weight has not been a secret.

I bet the Angels have far more buyers remorse over signing Pujols and Hamilton after this past seasn than the Tigers do over Fielder.
