Excellent column.

Examining schedules in baseball is a grab bag because no 2 are created equal, and each series is different from year to year.

The Nats are 11-6 against the Pirates, Dodgers, Giants & Yankees but 0-5 against the Reds
The Reds are 5-0 against Washington and I think 7-2 against Pittsburgh, but just recently lost 2 of 3 to Colorado and 3 of 4 to Florida.
The Phillies are 9-1 since the All Star Break, with all 9 wins against teams that are either at .500 or at .500 when they played despite having the worst record.
The Tigers started the year 11-2; they are 37-50 since.

For the Mets sake, if they want to take this division it really starts with them winning this Nats series. They have been beaten up by the Nats at Citi Field every since July of 2013 as I believe they've only won 2 of 16 games in the park since.

Far more vital than 2 of 3 vs say 1 of 3 v Nats is the final 60 game record of the 4/5 NYM starters. If they go .500, I would expect a .625 minimum overall final 62 games. 1 to 3 will surely beat up on the 48 sub .500 game opponents.
