What do you think is everyone's take on this year's playoffs, fans and national media alike?

I think it's good for baseball.

IMO, the national media is saying as far as the AL: Astros should have a cake walk in the ALDS against the Indians since the Indians don't have 100 wins, play in a weak division and have a bad postseason history and a tough time against the Red Sox or Yankees as they go back to the World Series and repeat.

NL: It comes down to Cubs, Dodgers and Brewers.

I agree. Indians have all the pressure that series with the whole "not winning since '45 thing" but at least the Cavs got the NBA championship a couple years ago, and the Browns actually look semi competent. Astros, imo are much like the Cubs from last year; they got their 1 World Series, so whatever happens the following year is gravy. If they win another championship, great, if they get swept by Cleveland, who cares because we won it last year.

3 teams with the most pressure to win: Dodgers, Red Sox, Indians, I'd probably go in that order, maybe swap the Red Sox with the Dodgers if you want, but those 2 are clearly at the top in the "pressure" department.

I don't think the Indians don't have any pressure because they're not a favorite in the AL. In fact, they're the most disrespected team in the AL coming into the playoffs because they didn't have to fight and claw to win their division or have 100 wins. Astros, Red Sox, Yankees and Dodgers have the most pressure because they're either the champs or they have the big names, the superstars and they play in major markets.

To me, these tiebreakers and WC games give the first portion of the playoffs a real one and done feel. Sort of like the MLB version of March Madness.

Yes, I know, I know, it is not quite the same thing as the losers of Monday's tiebreakers will still live to see another day. Still a nice change from the routine of finishing the season and then going into a series.

Agree but I wish they would make the Wild Card more interesting instead of a one-game playoff make it a three-game series.

'48, but who's counting and what's 3 years out of the past 70?

Cubs lost last night and are out. You are down to 2 teams.

I am a Braves fan and will say that I think we probably have the least amount of pressure of any of the NL teams, as I think everyone realizes that the Braves' team is very young, that the future is very bright and that the best days are ahead for this particular group of players. So, any noise that Atlanta makes in the playoffs is just sort of a bonus from my perspective.
