The national league has 2 more teams than the american league. So why dont they just take a team from the NL and add it to the AL. That way both leagues can have an equal number of teams

Because it would create scheduling headaches, plus it would create one interleague game every day. Not a good idea. I personally think the AL should just expand to 16 teams like its counterpart. It probably won't happen, though.
perhaps one team from the NL should move over to the AL? that would balance things out.
You have to have an even number of teams in each league. 15 in each league is just not feasible. It is going to create numerous scheduling conflicts because you'll end up with one interleague game each day of the season. Or, worst-case scenario: They'd have to idle a team for a whole series. That certainly is not in the best interest of MLB. I'm sorry. It'll either have to be 14 teams or 16 teams. You can't have an odd number of teams in each league. Otherwise, they'd have to consider expansion in the American League. It's not a bad idea, but it isn't on the horizon, either.
I just realized I said the same thing Galloway said. I do agree that expansion of the AL may not be a bad idea, but there are so few markets left to choose from now.

How can you expand when we have so many weak markets today? Pittsburgh, Miami, Oakland and Kansas City have pretty weak attendance.
Whatever one wants to do, I cannot see expansion as a possibility.
As far as available markets, Charlotte would make sense, as for another there was talk about Vegas a couple of years ago.
I can see where one would say Charlotte makes since, I see several cars a day with Cubs, Yankees, and Red Sox stickers on them. But I dont think Charlotte is ready yet. There was talk on a local sports show here that more people would come to see the Yankees or Sox play than see a game between the Carolina(fill in team name here) and the Kansas City Royals. We've already had a fiasco about our minor-league team getting a new ballpark.
I guess Vegas could work, perhaps another Canadian team, not Montreal but maybe Vancouver? just a thought.
