Ah the class of Philly fans, the same one who cheered when Micheal Irvin was taken off the field on a stretcher.
I am impressed with the Rays, I thought the Sox would take it to them based on playoff experience alone, I was wrong. The have a ton of offense and solid pitching. I mean does Big Papi know the playoffs started, seems he hasn't hit the ball at all the whole post season.
I forgot about that Irvin incident.
The Rays are very good. There was a good article in the Boston Globe about the age of their core group of players and pitchers - scary for the AL East opponents! James Shields being the old man on the staff at 26. It will be interesting to see what they do with the talent in the next couple of years once it is contract time.
There are Boston publications calling Ortiz "Big Pop-up."
So what are the predictions? Who expects a game 6 and 7 down in St. Pete? I think that Thursday's game will be the finale in the ALCS, especially if the Rays offense continues.
There are bandwagon fans for every team. It's the pink hat syndrome. There are many Red Sox (and Yankees) fans all over the country - many are bandwagon but many have either relocated or adopted the team because they didn't have an MLB team in their location.
If the Phils win it this year, that's what I'm afraid of....a Phillies bandwagon. It will pi$$ me off, as someone who's been a fan all my life, through the years of the late 80's to early 2000's where the Phils sucked (except for '93), to see people hopping on the bandwagon and calling themselves fans now. It must be frustrating being a longtime true Red Sox or Yankees fan and putting up with fairweather/bandwagon fans....

Believe me, it's very annoying. It gets somewhat comical when I talk to someone who is a "huge Sox fan" but they have no clue on basic stuff like pitching rotation, etc.
I have to say that I think I'll root for the Sox to pull it out against the Rays.....I think a Phils-Sox series would be more exciting than playing the Rays.

really? from what i've seen of the phils, it seems we have a lot of the same qualities. it would prove to be very intense, i should think (and it's looking like it's actually going to happen. we're up 5-0 in the bottom of the 4th). great pitching, defense... and good hitters. how could we go wrong with Rays/Phils?
