I don't consider Russell a better oncourt player, than Kareem. Russell was a defensive anchor on a team that had a larger collection of talent than any other team in an 11 team league. They had no excuse not to win 11 rings. Which is not to trivialize Russell, he has his place in sports history. But If 'winning' is your criteria for selecting Russell over Kareem, than you'd have to apply that to every other player.
