Usually, Jim Rome, like other "reporters", finds ways to use obnoxious and irrelevant lines of questioning to get under the skins of some of his guests. However, I think he met his match today in David Stern, who basically turned the tables. Not once did Stern raise his voice; he just calmly, deliberately made Rome look like a village idiot. Sometimes Stern comes across as a wee bit arrogant, but I gotta say, well done, sir. Well done, indeed.
Stern came off looking like a child. Rome was Rome. "Did you beat your wife last night?" Really?! I'm not a Rome fan but I thought he completely pwned Stern. "Somebody important like Stephen A Smith?" LMAO. Stern is a dickbag.
Truth is, I actually sometimes find Rome's childish antics funny, when I'm in the odd mood to listen to it and I'm on some boring stretch of highway like I-5 in southern Oregon and No. Cal. He's entertaining, but he's also a douche. He always antagonizes his guests and usually gets under their skin, but clearly Stern played it cool and knew which buttons to push. Stern 1, Rome 0.
I just don't know how Rome has survived all of these years. I hate his radio show and TV show. He is bad all around, the only reason he has an audience is due to the topic, sports. I listened to his horrible radio show for 5+ yrs because that was the only show available.
This was stupid by Stern because it's just going to continue to fuel the rumors of the NBA being rigged. He nothing to actually kill those rumors. I thought the question was a legitimate question for Rome to ask but it was poorly worded. If he would have worded it better this would have made Stern look even worse, but even still, no professional should be sitting here bringing anyone's personal business into an interview like that.
