I think it's just as likely that Kobe misses a good chunk of the season, isn't nearly 100% but still wants the ball....Gasol continues to fade and they have a lot of cohesiveness problems with the new faces....along with the same crappy coach.
In that scenario they wind up closer to 20 wins than 40 wins.
Friendly wager? What would be your over\under win total for the Lakers?
P.S. THe Lakers may also be inclined to tank if things start going badly.

It's really hard to predict not knowing when Kobe is coming back and how he'll play coming off that injury at the age he is, and with Gasol and Nash's age, the new players, and everything else.
I think it's probably equally likely that Gasol plays better this year than last year, as it is that he plays worse. Also the possibility of tanking if Kobe takes a long time to come back, or trade deadline deals if they're overachieving. Anything from 20 wins to the low 40s seems fairly likely.
Averaging all the good and bad scenarios I would probably put the over/under around ~31-32 I guess.
