From this poll, select who is the best NBA Power Forward of all time.
I get these lists by combining online sources of other lists.
I did this for center, now it's PF time !

Also list your top 10!

CHOICES:

Tim Duncan
Karl Malone
Kevin Garnett
Dirk Nowitzki
Charles Barkley
Dennis Rodman
Kevin McHale
Chris Webber
Shawn Kemp
Elvin Hayes (yes I know I listed this guy in the Cs also, but researching the topic, he has been called a C and PF, so I'm not sure)
Bob Pettit
Dave DeBusschere
Dolph Schayes
Pau Gasol
Connie Hawkins
Jerry Lucas
James Worthy
Other

If I missed someone, sorry! That's why there's "Other"

Try to keep in mind several factors: athleticism, post d/rim protection/defense, post skills, midrange shooting, outside shooting, perimeter d, passing statistics, win/loss, championships/playoff success, contribution to team, dominance of his position/other players, dominance of the game and other things.

I'm going with the Big Fundy.

Two way threat (sorry Dirk) who's a presence in the lane on both ends, with excellent passing skills, rebounding and consistent scorer throughout a long, successful career. On the drama scale (which is important to me, Karl!) he scores very low, and blends well with teammates in different eras with different skill sets.

To me, this is extremely difficult to rank several players because of styles, team sets and teammates, etc. That's why I went with a foundational guy.

James Worthy played SF and so did Connie Hawkins for most of his career.

  1. Tim Duncan
  2. Karl Malone
  3. Dirk Nowitzki
  4. Charles Barkley
  5. Kevin Garnett

I would put KG at the bottom of the top 5 even though he has won a championship, my top 4 guys were all leaders and led their teams to championships or several very successful seasons, but I never saw that leadership quality in KG. I loved Dennis Rodman but he had no offence and was a severe distraction for many of his team mates.

2-4 (no order):
Charles Barkley
Kevin Garnett
Karl Malone

5-6 (no order):
Bob Pettit
Dirk Nowitzki

I think number 12 to 15 can all be replaced by active power forwards.

Poll indicates more assuredness on best PF than best C.

Nowitzki over KG? I don't know. KG was a way, way better all around player than Dirk. KG suffered from a lot of poorly constructed teams. Dirk won a lot of regular season games but struggled in the playoffs with the exception of two years. KG went to the Finals the same amount of times as Dirk and won one just like Dirk.

Scorer -> Dirk
Rebounder -> Garnett
Passer -> Garnett
Defender -> Garnett

I'm going to stick to the past ~30-35 years because it's too hard to judge guys before that and I didn't get the chance to watch them extensively throughout their careers.

1. Tim Duncan
2. Kevin Garnett
3. Karl Malone
4. Dirk Nowitzki
5. Gnarles Barkley
6. Chris Webber
7. Kevin McHale
8. Dennis Rodman
9. Zach Randolph
10. Pau Gasol

4 and 5 are really close and could be switched, as are 6 and 7 and 9 and 10.

Honorable mention:

Rasheed Wallace
Shawn Kemp
Kevin Willis

Really wanted to put Rasheed in there because he could have been top 5 all-time if he wanted to be, and I think he could easily outplay half the guys in the top 10 in a playoff series, but his career wasn't consistent enough.

James Worthy was primarily a small forward, he probably shouldn't be on this list.
