I didn't see a thread for the Charlotte Hornets so I figured I'd start one. It's awesome to have the Hornets back in Charlotte. I couldn't really get into the Bobcats but know that the Hornets are back this is the most excited I've been for an NBA season in a long time. We've had a rough start but there is enough talent on this team that we'll be able to turn it around.
I love Charlotte's new hive-shaved parquee-looking floor, but I can't stand that logo. Why couldn't they have re-used the old Hornets logo of the 90s? That was pretty awesome.
And these jerseys...
Charlotte has basically gotten 1 thing right: get the name back. But their new logo is weak and their jerseys were a miss too.
Why not just bring back the original Hornets jerseys? Like with the logos, NBA regulations do not allow us to simply use the original uniforms. We had to make changes and updates. However, the original uniforms will be available to us for throwback/retro use and we will continue to sell the original uniforms for former players in the Hornets Fan Shop.
(That doesn't mean I won't hunt down an old plush Hugo T Hornet doll if I get a chance...)
Crappy logo and uniforms aside, you have the core of a potentially very, very good team.
Jefferson, Williams, Walker and Stephenson are all solid players and your young talent like Vonleh, Kid-Gilchrist and Hairston all have a lot of potential. If you Steve Clifford can get these guys to play as a team, the Hornets could really be a threat in the playoffs.
Hornets snapped their road losing streak last night at Phoenix, beating the Suns 103-95. I wasn't able to watch the game but it looks like Kemba had a good game leading the team with 19 points.
Another tough loss tonight, this time at the hands of the Mavericks. A tough schedule and injuries are starting to catch up to this team. Thankfully the NBA season is a marathon and not a sprint.
Bumping this from last season. We should have a pretty good team this year so long as we can stay healthy. Batum and Lin were good additions made in the offseason and we've played well in the preseason games. We get it all started with the Heat tomorrow night in Miami.
Hornets dropped their first game of the season tonight 94-10 to Miami. The Heat shot lights out in the second half and although Charlotte got within 5 at the end of the 4th the Heat were able to pull away at the end. Thankfully there are 81 more games left.
