Despite fine, Rockets' Pat Beverley handled situation well

Here's what went down on Friday night in Oklahoma City. Beverley was fouled and went into the stands. The fan - Stuart Scaramucci, the son of Thunder minority owner Jay Scaramucci. - leaned over while Beverley was on the ground and repeatedly yelled "F--- you, Patrick Beverley" before he could get up.

Beverley tried pointing Scaramucci out to officials at the time and they did nothing. When the game ended, Beverley said he walked over and said a few words to Scaramucci before heading to the locker room.

"I addressed him and said 'at the end of the day, this is a basketball game. I'm a grown man, you're a grown man. Now keep it professional. There's no need for the blatant disrespect,'" Beverley said. "And that's all."

Beverley went on to say that he accepts the fine, but he does think the NBA needs to step up and protect its players. If the league won't, he said, he will continue to look out for himself.

I don't see why he was fined here... if this is all that it was.

Just because you pay for a ticket, does not mean that you get to do whatever you want to the players.

Players curse out fans as well.

When LBJ did the chase down block yesterday and ran up into the stands, on the way back down, someone slapped him on the shoulder.

Where do fans cross the line?

League should fine the owner for his sons actions.

Definitely, and it sounds like he got preferential treatment the Average Joe would not.

Not a big Beverly fan, but 100% agreed with his statement of protecting himself and not letting the fan(apparently owners son) rudely step all over him and violate him as a man. NBA really needs to look at and take these sort of incidents seriously have the backs of their players.

Yeah, if he's not a partial owners son he gets his season tix yanked.

OKC should do something classy here and apologize and maybe even pay the fine.

This wasn't Random Joe that instigated this.

Will les Alexander get fined for approaching and yelling at the ref last night?

That was classic... looked like Hakeem tried to stop him at first.

Rockets owner Leslie Alexander left his seat to furiously scream at a ref

Yes... $100K.

Seems a little high for two seconds of interaction.

He would probably be better off cursing a Thunder player taking the ball out of bounds in front of him.
