Sporks old spot on Galvison got bought up by the Paradise Produce Stand this Fall (they use to be on 14th on the way to the mountain). Looks like they found a new home on Newport across the way from Kebaba AND they've decided to go FULL resturant: Spork Signs a Lease for the Old Fox's Location | Bent

Not sure if anyones noticed, but looks like thier old spot on Galveston is being 'developed' in some way by Paradis Produce Stand. Not sure if they're putting a whole building up or what? Anyone know....I'll drive by later this week and look at the progress.

So far this is the second foodcart that's made the jump to a full resturant since I've moved here. The other is Bario downtown that has truly good food.

I just read this news the other day. I'm excited as I love Spork, but honestly don't go there very often, well because, when I eat out, I enjoy having a cold beer and a warm spot to sit. The old Fox's location is great and hopefully Spork will do well there!

Went by Sporks old location next to Primal Cuts/across the way from 10 Barrel on Galveston Avenue. Looks like Paradise Produce is building a semi-permanent fruit stand there. Also, Primal Cuts is turning half their butchery into a beer Growler station which seem to be popping up ALLLLLL over town lately.

Also went by HydroFlasks new headquarters in North West Crossing yesterday to get new screw tops (free of charge, btw - lifetime warranty). They recently got a HUGE cash injection from a local Bend-ite who lives here part time/Manhattan which is greatly promising. I had heard that investment came from overseas and I was thrilled to learn that not only was it from an 'American' source, but also a local.

If you don't own a HydroFlask I highly recommend them.

More...ha! Another one of our bigger/nationally known Bend based companies recently-ish moved headquarters. RuffWear is now in the building next to Summit High School on the way to Tumalo Falls on the Westside (very close to HydroFlasks new location). The building use to house Breedlove Guitars....they made handmade guitars? Anyway, it's a sweet building.

Annnddd...while I was trying to figure out the name to that guitar company, I stumbled on this article. They apparently merged with another guitar company and are doing quite well/still local.

Shoot. Two more updates :

Wiggy's is opening up a retail shop on Newport Avenue across the way from Newport Market/Next to Devores. They make MADE IN AMERICA outdoor gear. Here's a The Source article on them stating they're opening in the Old Mill, but that seems to be false or older news.

Annnndddd.....New York City Sub Shop is opening up a second location in the old Backporch Roasters space next to Newport Market. The home made pie shop that moved in there after Backporch moved across the street went out of business in less than 6 months .

NYC subs is pretty good, but certainly not very NYC like, imho.

Yes, Breedlove guitars are awesome! My husband owns a Breedlove acoustic bass and loves it. We actually know a couple of the guys that manufacture/used to manufacture their products. One of them now owns his own hand crafted instrument company, Bowerman Guitars - Handmade Acoustic, Tenor, and Weisenborn Lap Steel Guitars, based here out of Bend as well. My husband plays music with him, actually.

On another note, I was thinking that perhaps we needed to merge all these threads about new restaurants/breweries/etc opening into one. Perhaps we can get a moderator to do that. It would sure make it easier to find them and add information as relevant.

Thanks for the info and I agree. We should merge them.

Another update on food carts. Yo Mama's Country Cooking is absolutely phenomenal - think Pine State Biscuits in Portland. Its been around now for two summer and, like Real Food Bistro's food cart, every time I go it gets better and better with bigger and bigger portions.

I went this morning after a run at Shevlin and couldn't help but take a picture. Also, a new coffee shop opened across the street (where the old Maragas Winery tasting room use to be) called Palate. Actually, Palate is cool with you taking your food over to their indoor space to eat if you grab a coffee.

GET THE HUCKLEBERRY LEMONADE (stir it before every sip!)
