...with school-aged kids. Is there much difference between these two venues? I can't seem to dig up a side by side comparison online. I'm interested in the nice university equipment, but have heard the docents at sun river are great with kids and that's a little more family-friendly. Does anyone have the 411 to help us decide?
Thanks!

I'd say that what you've heard is pretty spot on. The equipment at Sunriver isn't quite as big or fancy as Pine Mountain, but it is a decent range and the staff/volunteers are very good with children. There are usually plenty of 'scopes so no-one has too wait too long for a look. Pine Mountain is pretty isolated and for older children it's fine, but younger ones may get bored.

I have not been to Pine Mountain, but I go every winter to my Brothers at Sun River and the Star Gazing is spectacular.

I just found out my star gazing deck is going away. My Brother is leaving Sun River for a place he bought up the McKenzie River. As soon as he sells his Sun River 20 acres my gazing site wile be no more.

So somebody tell me about Pine Mountain.
