Does anyone know where I can find a map of any unincorporated areas around La Pine?

Going to be house shopping this winter and I'd like to know what I'm getting into.

Thanks!

There really aren't any communities that way, outside of La Pine and Sun River. Be sure to stay in Deschutes County, don't go south into Klamath County (Gilchrist is in Klamath County). Sure, Klamath County taxes are lower than Deschutes, but there is NO sheriff service in rural Klamath County.

Is that the only reason?

Thanks!

If the Unincorporated areas you are talking about are in the Forest Service, the Forest service maps are excellent. They show roads, trails, paths, logging roads, landmarks, elevation.... Very good for getting around without getting lost.

Other than that, there is a book of Oregon maps that you will find near the check-out at BiMart, and probably at walmart, and at any sporting good store. It's quite good.

I have had some printing done at this store and they have a large collection of maps that are well organized.

I highly recommend there store for a specialized place to get all types of detailed maps.

Maybe Oregon isn't the place for you. Anywhere in Oregon, you will have to have an approved septic system. Buildings will have to have permits and be inspected. Water sources are strictly controlled.

There are also laws that protect any lakes, rivers, or streams and limit what you can do next to water.

There are several different zonings where you can have livestock or farm, if that is what you mean by having control over what you do with your own land, but commercial dealings and anything that pollutes isn't going to be allowed in most areas.

Agree, OP may want to look into other states.

I owned property in WV and can speak first hand there are some extremely low regulated areas there.
Only inspections or permits were for the well and septic. Not sure if there are any places left in the US that don't have that requirement?

Not looking to dump toxic waste or anything, just thinking about having a home business.
