The picture posted is from Todd Lake, about 25 minutes west of Bend. A short 1.5 mile walk circles the lake. Great hike with the little ones.

Thanks for the info! Is there other cities around my mom could get a job? She's going to school for Medical Coding & billing. So i'm sure she could find a job anywhere? She's really in love with Bend. She's never been like this. So i'm pretty excited. The only thing is how expensive it is. Are the other cities around cheaper to live in? Is Bend the biggest city around?

Clare,
The Bend area is a great place, there is so many different landscapes... High desert, Hills, Mountains, Pine forests.... and LAKES everywhere.

The further you get from central Bend the cheaper housing is (for the most part)

West and South of Bend tends to be more pine tree forests
East and North of Bend tends to be more high desert

here is the website for the central oregon real estate:
Central Oregon Realtors: Home Page

PS: I lived in AZ for a short period (showlow.... named by the turn of the cards)
If you like AZ you are going to love Central Oregon!

Bend is the largest town in the area, followed by Redmond and Prineville. Bend has a strong medical industry, so your Mom might have a good chance of finding a position in that field. Bend has many different neighborhoods, some far more expensive than others. She shouldn't give up on Bend if that's where her dream lies.
