hi. i am in the process of applying to the rn program at hawaii cc. i live in seattle and am having a hard time getting into programs here, so i thought i'd give my most favorite place on the planet a shot. my most recent rejection letter said the average gpa of successful applicants was a 3.92. anyone have any idea how competitive programs are on the big island?
thanks.

I'd suggest calling & actually talking to an adviser. i'm going back to school at UH & when i researched it i was not going to be able to transfer almost any of credits (i've got a b.s. in business already) but when i spoke with my adviser they told me something almost totally different than even what UH's website stated. You could probably get the minimum requirements from the website but as far as how competitive it is you will want to actually talk with somebody in that department. Good luck!

3.92??? That is inhuman. lol

My guess is that the standard GPS for acceptance in Hawaii is much lower... But it's just a guess...

No, it's true. The UH system is supposed to only take 30% of its students from outside of the state. (The mission is to serve the students of Hawaii... it's a state school, so in-state kids come first.) That means admissions standards are going to be different... mainland admissions are more competitive.
