The idea of a chartered flight for pets of concerned owners is a recurring theme, but the reality is that only millionaires could ever afford such service. We brought 7 parrots and a dog from Alaska to HNL on a commercial carrier without incident.
I'm shipping a Boston Terrier and a pit mix to Honolulu from the East Coast and have been trying to figure out my options. I called Pacific Air Cargo tonight and the friendliest guy answered on the 2nd ring and gave me great info. They charge $2.98 per lb, or they go by a dimension formula they get by lxwxh. For example a 80lb dog would be charged as a 150lb dog because the dimensions are larger. He said the flight goes out at 2:30 am from LAX and lands at 5am in Honolulu. They dogs are put up front closest to the pilots. He said if you want, you can come in earlier in the day and do paperwork, weigh dogs, pay fees etc and then come back half hour before the flight boards. He said you are welcome to leave dogs with them and they check on them during the day, but not many people like to do that. Anyway, first interaction with this company is a positive one. Wishing you the best with shipping the dogs!
A private plane company will not even allow the pets on board without the paperwork.
We are using akonapet.com to help us doing all the needed paperwork. Nice people.

Just to be sure... you did start the rabies titer test process four months before your departure date, right? Your dog will need to "serve" either its antibody wait period on the mainland or quarantine in Hawaii. Four months on either side. You can't do 2 months one one and 2 months on the other. Proof of rabies vaccination is insufficient.
