Coqui are evil. But wishing for snow to do in the coqui seems almost worse than the coqui.

Don't like winter, it kills gardens. Eeeuwe! Four seasons are nasty since one of them is white death to gardens.

I'd have to say I'm the odd man out here and I DO miss the seasons. BUT..I've lived in Hawaii for 20 years now..so that must say something. I think more than the change in seasons, it's the little things that go along with it. The feeling of change coming...cooler temps..crisp air..leaves changing..fall smell..apple cider...the crunch of snow on a sunny day..catching snowflakes on my tongue..melting snow...shaking off the drearies...hints of spring..first sight of birds..first blade of grass.

But all of that said..I would never want to live through an entire Michigan winter again. I can visit..a 2-3 week Christmas visit and I snap right out of it.

I agree. Unfortunately, one of the biggest challenges to gardening in Hawai'i is that we also do not get the winter die-off of pests.

I'd agree to a week of heavy snow every year if we could trade it for a lot fewer nasty bugs and hungry critters and plant diseases in the spring.

Just let me know when it's coming so I can stock up and stay in the house until it is over.

On the other hand... I really don't mind it too much on those rare mornings when i find a little frost on my windshield, and then look upslope and see a white blanket on Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. That's a pretty magical sight, especially if the light from the rising sun catches the observatories atop Mauna Kea in dazzling gold light, so they appear to be the glistening castles of El Dorado. Magical!

Apple cider! Yes! I totally miss apple cider. Not even kidding. I know that apples aren't really grown here (except a few on Maui that never make it off the island, I hear). But apples and apple juice and all that is imported. How come we can't get cider? Is it really more delicate than all the milk and meat and cheese and fruit and veggies that come from the mainland?

Nope, don't miss them. I enjoy the subtle changes that our season have...and still being able to wear slippers and board shorts.
