Well, my third visit to the Big Island is coming to an end. Been here since 28 Feb and the time has flown! Thanks to all who replied to some of my questions...all were very helpful. My seasonal work at Great Smoky Mountains National Park starts week from tomorrow, so I gotta leave.
I love the Big Island. For the most part I experienced the aloha spirit. Only encountered one negative person...not too bad.
Following that encounter I thought of the taxi driver on Molokai who picked me up at the airport. With a big smile he said, "we are the Friendly Isle, if someone not friendly to you, call me, I fix it."
Hope to return again someday. Those who live here are truly blessed. Thanks again for being considerate of this ol' boy from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia.

I'm sorry to hear you'll have to leave, but at least you're going to another beautiful area. I grew up not far from GSMNP and have recently moved to Hilo.
