Thank you all for all your responses. I did find one site yesterday that broke things down in percentage of sunshine. I guess I would say, I love the lushness of the east side of BI but would want some sun as well. We are not on the island yet. Moving in June and visiting in March. We are planning 10-14 days in March and I have a feeling my husband and I will spend all that time just touring property. In the mean time I love to research but don't want to get my heart set on an area just to find out the weather there is terrible. So, can anyone tell me instead of how much rain one might expect, how much sunshine one might expect?

Depends where I guess. Think I looked at a graph saying about 30% of the time the sun was out in Hilo. Rest of the time was either cloudy with sun or overcast, which was I think 50% of the time. Even without the sun all activities are still possible. Because clouds don't mean it's going to rain, and th temperature is in the 80s anyway. When I was on the Kona side, it was sunny most of the days and most all of the day. Though it seemed to rain around 9pm every single night and off and on throughout the night.
