For all of you that don't know--Hilo town was one of 20 cities chosen to get a facelift with all the paint and supplies from Benjamin Moore Paints----for free

I first heard about it on the 6o'clock news several weeks ago and voted everyday as you could only cast 1 vote per day per person.

I posted it on my facebook page to try and get others to vote but I also heard that the hilo downtown association was getting the word out also.

I am glad all the people of hilo pulled together and we won.

Hilo is a cool town and the facelift will be a welcoming site.

Can't wait to see the results.

They say it should be finished next year sometime.

Did anyone in here vote?

Yes, I voted for it, and intend to volunteer to paint.

Not required to, no, but I'm sure we'll all be invited to participate.

I don't think the local painters' union would like that a whole that.

From the Benjamin Moore website:

Skilled professional painters, many of them members of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America, will be hired, putting another segment of local business to work along with the local Benjamin Moore retailer who will be mixing the paints that are used.

So some folks are going to get paid to do the painting as part of the prize? So much the better.

I just thought it was more of a local pride thing, and I'd be happy to volunteer for that.
