Word is Honokaa is going to get town wide wi-fi, I'm not sure where they are with that yet. The person who keeps me updated on that didn't come to quilting group this week. They also started "First Fridays" last month and that was sort of a semi-block party sort of thing.

All the snowbirds are in quilting group now, too. We have five or six folks who appear during winter and then are gone the rest of the year. Some of them stay at Waikoloa Village, some of them have houses here.

The nice thing about being a snowbird is you can rent in a different area each year. One year you can live in Kailua, then the next you can experience Volcano or Puna and perhaps Waimea, etc.

Has something happened to Hilo's internet service? We lived there 10 years ago and had high speed that worked fine (but the cost was way too high, like everything in Hawaii). We even had VOIP phones on it. Maybe people are referring to internet service in Puna and further out.

I may have found one. A condo at Kona Shores on Alii Drive. Anyone familiar with the complex?

Honokaa's internet service is fine, but they want fast town wide wi-fi for everyone's mobile devices, I think is the reasoning. I think it is the business association who is installing it and they've started putting in the transmitters, I think. I just hear about this via town gossip, I've not been paying a whole lot of attention to it or have many mobile devices to use with it.

If Kona Shores is on Alii Drive, Dglade, that would be right in the middle of Kona. Does it come with a parking space? I'd think parking would be somewhat of an issue, but I have no personal knowledge of it. Sounds like a nice winter home, definitely warmer than the mainland! The water should be warm enough to swim in, too.

Is this a condo unit that you are buying or just leasing for the season? If it is just a seasonal lease, then you'd be able to look around for next year's lease while you're here for the first one.
