We just wanted to relax and not deal with her stress so we dropped the breakfast subject and essentially didn't get what we paid for.

We never stayed there again, and to this day, do not recommend them.

I know people will say that we should have gotten a supervisor and yadda yadda yadda, but whatever, we were looking for aloha, got nastiness, won't go back. The rooms aren't nice enough to be worth the struggle.

Our experiences at the Hilo Seaside Hotel on the other hand were all very positive.

Interesting. I've always booked on-line with them, always received free parking, and always received the breakfast voucher. And the clerks have always been very nice and helpful. Too bad you had such a bad experience with them!

This was all very helpful. We eventually ended up staying at the King Kam. As we have not established residency yet, we paid slightly higher than locals but got a reduced rate and ocean view upgrade after speaking with the manager. We ended up paying about 140$ per night.
