I'm curious about the "rejected" homes shown in each episode. Do you think it would help you sell your house to have it shown on TV ? Or hurt your house to have it being rejected on TV by a "potential buyer" ? Or no impact at all because most people watching it on TV are not actively in the market to buy a house ?

I'm not sure I would want my home shown on TV in a episode set up where a potential buyer comes into the house, criticizes it, and then explains why it is being rejected.

Where else in the USA can a person of modest means purchase land, or even a home, within walking distance and earshot of the ocean in a pristine and uncrowded jungle environment? Where else can you purchase land, or even a home, with a panoramic western vista of the Pacific for less than people pay for a luxury SUV? Not the sort of homes they will show on TV of course, but that's fine. Let's keep it a secret...

I doubt it would hurt your odds of selling, as the show doesn't usually air sooner than 6 months after filming. With how fast things move on the market here, the place will have already sold. So what is said about it on the show becomes irrelevant. The up side is that the sellers agent gets to put "Soon to be on HGTV as a Featured Property" or some marketing scheme like that.

Yeah, that's the one!

The other upside of renting your house to the production company for filming is the money they pay you.

And as you said, by the time it airs, you've most likely already sold the house.
