Been checking the CL ads daily for a month and have seen a few come and go, but unfortunately I wasn't there to act. Now, there seems to be hardly any of the ones that I considered and I will be arriving on the 16th of Oct. I have invitations to stay with friends and family but I don't want to wear out my welcome while I search for a property to purchase in the Puna area and would like to stay overnight on or near properties to get a better feel for them.
So, I hope that I can make this request on this forum for anyone who knows of a street legal, clean, comfortable and self contained RV that will sleep up to 4 people. + or - 22 foot in length. Also would consider a trailer. Maybe someone out there has one and could send me a private message with details??
Thanks in advance.............

Right now with the big exodus from the impending lava flow, mobile housing is pretty scarce and I'd expect you'd have quite a bit of competition for it. Might be worth looking into shipping one over? Although there aren't any RV parks, or much RV camping sites (like not any) so I don't know where you'd park it.

Yeah, bad timing on my part with the new demand for temporary housing. This last month I was following a few decent possibilities on CL, but it seems that all of a sudden someone else beat me to them. That's why I'm looking elsewhere in the hopes that someone may have one just sitting around unused and taking up space.

I'm fully aware of the lack of legal spaces to park on the BI and hope my old friends will allow me to park in their driveways for a few days at a time so don't worry, you won't see me living in Walmart parking lot [LOL].

Don't give up hope, there awere a couple new ones listed today.

Also, you might consider that there's probably less demand for these on the neighbor islands, and that barging one to the Big Island via Young Brothers would be a heckuva lot cheaper and faster than bringing one down from the West Coast.

Actually I did have my sights set on an ideal rig on Oahu. A late model Lance slide in/out mounted on a late model 4wd Ford truck...........my dream rig, but after quizzing the owner, it appeared to be a 'project' with a lot of expensive repairs and I want something that I can just drive away. I'm too old for 'project' trucks and campers.
10 years ago.........I would have jumped at it.

Checked out the Harper link and didn't see any RVs or campers. Maybe they got out of the biz because of lack of proper camping facilities on the BI.

There is a guy with a rental business in Kona and he has one of his rentals for sale, but I'm hesitant to buy an X rental unit.

I dunno. Seems to me that it would at least be low-mileage.
