I grew up in the PNW and you would be more depressed in Ocean View. The warm weather, isolation, and distant ocean view (if you get one) won't make up for the lunar landscape and lack of vegetation and precipitation. Take the money you were considering to invest in this venture and use it for traveling. You'll know what home feels like when you get there.

Oh I don't know about that. I lived primarily in Northern California, Alaska and Florida and I love Oceanview.
Of course, OP needs boots on the ground to see what he/she prefers.
