Default Mermaids

There are several legends about Hawaiian mermaids. There is one told of a mermaid that frolicked in the waters off Lahaina, Maui. She was called Kananaka.

Another mermaid of Hawaiian folklore is said to inhabit the the shores of Kaua`i in the channel between Poli`ahu and Ni`ihau. Her name is Kamomihilionalu (Ka Momi Hili `O Nalu)

Still a 3rd mermaid is spoken of in the song No Luna Ka Hale Kai, which speaks briefly of Moananuikalehua, also called Halelehua.

I agree on the mai tais making a fundamental difference Jungjohann. Women don't seem to understand how men operate. If they did, they would never spend all that time putting on makeup and wearing nice dresses.

As a straight man, I have the same "must have" priorities when it comes to partners as any other straight man. They have to be A-breathing, and B-female, and at 3Am in the bar, one of those MIGHT be negotiable.

I think that mermaid sightings are about being out at sea for a long time and you're bored, tired, hungry, and you probably imagine all sorts of things that aren't there, or that you want to be there. And if you have access to some rum, well there you go.

Since there seems to be a lot of confusion about how to please women and men here are the rules:

HOW TO PLEASE A WOMAN? Love her, die for her, take her to dinner, miss the football game for her, buy her jewellery, be interested in what she has to say...

HOW TO PLEASE A MAN? Show up naked, bring beer.

I have been told that there are no mermaids in the Pacific Ocean, or at least there have not been for perhaps thousands of years, as this is a very volcanic region of the world. Therefore, they are not part of Hawaiian history nor mythology, although some books and even films have written mermaids into their facyfull stories. Hope you one day come to visit our beautiful islands. All the best Aloha and Blessings from Kauai.

I checked the Hawaii Library system for "mermaid hawaii" and got only one hit, a kid's book
Momi : a Hawaiian mermaid in the Land of Delight / written by Elaine Masters ; illustrated by Yuko Green.

not on the big island, but if you walk around behind pali longs late at night on Oahu, you'll see plenty mermaids and other mythical creatures strolling around
