Hi,

My wife and I are considering buying a business near the Cpt. Cook area on the Big Island and I am wondering how isolated it is? Also is there a problem there with any type of racism? I have heard that at times there is racism in Oahu area and I am wondering if it is prevalent in other places.
Also how safe is the Kealakekua area with regard to lava flow? Can I get high speed internet there?
I have read about the high speed internet in other areas but curious about this one. How far is it from this area to Hilo or a place with more shopping and things to do?

Thanks in advance for the help.

It is *lovely*. Nowhere near the lava. Very close to all amenities in Kona area. Not isolated. Lots of tourists and mainland transplants, for better and worse. I wouldn't expect that you would have any problems with either racism or access to the net.

Default Thank you for the info

Thank you very much Mystic. I am still weighing the options but I am leaning toward doing this. I have been told that most businesses in Hawaii DONT keep very good records and that is why the company is not forth coming about their money in and money out. Do you think that is true or is the business broker blowing sunshine?

Where are you originally from? You haven't been there I take it? Be good idea to at least visit once before finally deciding. Entire area is quite an interesting one. Certainly wouldn't be for me, but it's a pretty area.

Be very cautious about this deal. Saying Hawaii businesses don't keep records is nonsense. Hawaii businesses are run the same as anywhere else in the US, are subject to audit by Feds/state. Also, do they have a license? permits? is the land zoned for business? If they won't show you the books, skip it.
