for those wanting to better prepare.

Even in the remote chance of a nuclear strike, BI is not going to be a primary target. So prepare like you would for a severe hurricane.

If trade winds are good we wont even see fallout from Oahu. But since they are the primary shipping hub for the islands we will run out of supplies very quickly.

I have 180 gallons of water on hand and 3 months of freeze dried food.

Hilo Surplus store carries #10 cans of mountain house freeze dried food. These cans last 30 years if unopened. They are so expensive to ship from the mainland
Hilo Surplus Store Inc - Outdoor Supplies | Hilo, HI

Chem-Tainer in Hilo has large (up to 4000 gallons) water storage tanks
Plastic Storage Tanks - Chemtainer of Hawaii

Plan at least 2 weeks at 1 gallon a day per person minimum

If you think 40 minutes to send out a correction was a long time, just imagine how long it will take for relief ships to get here.

Relief ships? Well, if by ship - about 5 days.

Regardless, the Berlin Airlift before the jet age supplied 2 million people for an entire year - the BI and all islands would be fine. Think about it - everything was supplied by prop planes to a population of 2 million for an entire year - certainly, it wouldn't be that tough to supply the BI even if Oahu wiped out.

You're taking the fun out of existential angst here ... angst is the raison d'Être of forums!

And with no more tourists and those that would invariably decide to leave, there would be a lot smaller population to serve.

I'm more pessimistic and looking at Puerto Rico. Though it would be nice if Tesla showed up with a bunch of solar infrastructure. FEMA does not exactly have the best track record with disasters and politicians just like blaming other politicians.

Im pretty sure I'll be the only one helping me in a disaster.

In Puerto Rico the airfields were severely damaged and the infrastructure for, well everything. An hit on Oahu? No damage to BI. For that matter, even Oahu has multiple airfields at MCBH Kaneohe, Barbers Point, Ford Island, even the old Bellows runways could be used in a pinch by some adventurous jockeys.

Nope sir. Not buying the angst you are peddling.

But, most importantly, as several (including me) keep pointing out: DPRK isn't going to launch any strike on Hawaii. Not now. Not soon. Not ever.

I think we all know more is going on politically (um um um White House ) with Puerto Rico - quite frankly it is a travesty what is happening there.
