That's borderline criminal activity right there, wasting your time with such nonsense.

Also, be aware some shops have interesting rules for passing safety. Kailua Honda wouldn't pass my wife's Honda Civic as it didn't have oem Honda branded windshield wipers. They wanted over $50 to replace the brand new ones that were on it. I walked out laughing loudly and drove around the corner to Lex Bodies where it passed just fine.
That's why we take our car to Ka'u Auto Repair in Na'alehu. They don't play those silly games.

Mostly, I think social media has had a negative effect on human beings and society as a whole, but these are incidents where you can use it to your benefit. When things like this happen to us, we post about it on social media everywhere that we can, including their own sites. You'd be amazed at how quick they allege to change their policies when hundreds of people start dogpiling shame onto them.

Nothing wrong with that. Costco is a great place to work. That wouldn’t be such a bad speed after 20 years of boredom interrupted by moments of chaos and insanity.

Hello again, guys!

My father has an extra car that is paid off back home that he is giving me. The tags are current and the car is registered under his name. I was wondering if it's possible to ship the car from the mainland to Hawaii and just transfer the title to my name once it arrives on the island? Is this possible? If so, how much would it cost? The reason I want to go this route is because it'll be convenient and the car is mechanically sound. The car is also in really good physical condition.

Thanks!

First thing to do is to have him sign the title over to you. Then you should register it where you live before shipping to Hawaii. That way you have all the paperwork in your name, making it easier to ship and to register wherever you are. Once you ship the car to Hawaii, you have 30 days to get it inspected and registered there. There are threads here on the inspection and registration process in Hawaii.

Shipping is roughly $1,300 from West Coast ports and the last time I shipped a car from Florida to Hawai'I, it ran almost $2,000. Cost changes a bit depending on fuel prices and which shipper/broker you use, but that should give you an idea of what to budget.
Also, when I bring vehicles over, I always have a a trusted shop on the mainland go through everything on the car. I have found it'seems much cheaper to get anything addressed over there.
