We own an English Bulldog and we haven't flown one to Hawai'i,
however as you are likely already aware, heat stress is a
killer and these dogs need to be kept in cool surroundings.
I believe there is an English Bulldog club in Oahu, and you might
try a Yahoo or Google search to contact them for advice about
flying and a good vet on the Big Island. I suppose that most of
the vets in Hawai'i have had little contact with English Bulldogs
and may be familiar with some of their issues.

You will also want to contact each airline individually and ask the questions. Because of the snub nose of your pet, airlines may have different regulations based on different times of the year. There will also be "climate" conditions that can force a schedule acceptance to be rejected. Knowing when you plan on flying (or knowing when you may have problems flying) can go a long way in planning for the trip. If it becomes a problem, consider using an animal relocation service. I know many who have avoided the normal scheduled airlines problems by using pet transporters. They often will use contracted cargo flights. These flights leave and arrive during the evening avoiding temperature issues at either airport. One such plane even has a special animal section designed to transport kennels in comfort.
