I thought you bird lovers on this forum might enjoy this. There is a wild bird (not sure of species) who is at McDonalds drive thru almost every day. He sit on this railing and waits for handouts. Sometimes he jumps on the hood of your car and stares at you through the windshield ! A really cute little guy and a fixture there.

Today he jumped on the hood of my car and rode there until I was about a block away, then he peeled off and flew back to his railing. He does that all the time. What a cool little animal.

Nice shots Don! Wow, that is one smart bird!
Looks like some kind of egret.
We see herons, ibis and egrets quite often here, either in the canal behind our house, or in flocks landing on the property to forage for grubs.
Never saw one do what yours is doing!

I live in Ft Myers too, and this McDonalds is at the corner of College and South Pointe. People love to see him there, and I always try to toss him some treat, but I have to blow on the fries first to cool them off !

He has been there for as many years as I can remember, and he loves to ride on the hood of your car, but you have to keep it under 20 mph so he doesn't get hurt.

Personally, I have no "egrets" about it.

Funny story and nice pictures. I agree it is an Egret of some type, don't know exactly which variety though.
